Renegades

We are far away from home,
Turn on the radio, put on forty four,
It’s no wonder why we are still in this game.

We drive miles away,
Sweating as we are, the love we care,
Wish only to keep the bill collectors at bay.

Life is not easy said and done,
We take off and take flight, planning never to return till we are fifty eight,
Even if we plan so much but nothing is ever been done.

Now it is time to stop for gas,
We reach into our pockets; put ourselves on some cigarettes,
The attendant can only say it is dangerous.

We request for a full tank,
Sadly for him, we never tell,
It is like walking on a wide plank.

I put my foot onto the gas paddle,
Waving our hands in the air, as a gesture that we will never pay,
I sigh and said how life is so simple.

Our destination is still farther upfront,
Turn on the radio, put on forty four,
It’s no wonder why we are still being hunt.
